D.C. Trip

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Okay so last weekend I went to Washington D.C. for Chemistry Club (yeah I am a geek ^^ ) and I had a blast!   This was my third time in D.C. (once in eighth grade and once in eleventh for Close-Up) and I just love the city! There is so much to do and see and honestly I want to go back again.  We left on friday afternoon (3/28) and got there that night.  We got a little lost but it was still fun.  When we go tlost in Frederick  Maryland (I think) i saw a car that i thought was like the Bumblebee in the movie "Transformers" because it was painted the same way and the same general shape.  However our dirver was a car guy ad he yelled at us that it wasn't a camarro it was a uick (my bad i don't know cars) and then he made us listen to the song "I believe in a thing called love" by the darkness and we all sang/shouted the chorus and it was really funny and a good time.  then we ended up lost right near the pentagon at like 8pm so it was dark out and our leader Dr. D had to talk to the pentagon police to try and find the way to our hotel.  We ended up getting lost again though so he went into this small kind of scary gas station to ask for directions.  We were kind of in a ghetto but it wa s alittle nicer...still it was a bit worrisome at like 9pm ish. of course Dr. D is a large and hairy man so he was unafraid.  However he didn't tell nayone else the directions and he sped out of there leaving us behind...in the ghetto at nigh...a staion wagon a mini van and an impala or something like that....we did finally find our way to the hotel after almost going through the airport, haha it was a lot of fun! we were all laughing and joking.  THen at 10:30 ish a bunch of us went over to chili's which was right across the street from the hotel and had drinks and some chips.  It was a good time, we were all laughing and joking around.  I had a raspberry margherita ro daquiri (i forget which) that was NON alcoholic (i am too young) that was delicious!  after a while we all went back to the hotel and went to sleep.

The next day we decided that we would meet for breakfast at 8 AM.  Turns out not much is open at 8 Am in D.C. for breakfast.  McDonald's wasn't even open until 9 AM!!!! lol Subway was open though so we ate there instead.  They actually do serve breakfast at some, they have like omelet sandwhiches and such. After that we found out that we all wanted to go to the smithsonians (we are ALL science geeks hehe) so we got on the metro and went there.  By the way I love the metro!!!!!! it is so much fun and really convenient.  (For those who don't know, the metro is the D.C. subway but it is actually really clean and nice) We made it to the smithsonians but none of them opened til 10 so we hung out outside (it was nice and sunny). We also found out that the American History one is closed til this summer for renovations but some of the exhibits are in the Air and Space one. We didn't go to it though becuase the line was long and not moving. We did see the rest of the Air and Space which is really cool and Natural History also cool! (the Hope diamond is there) We also saw a really tiny McDonald's van that was adorable and that I wanted to drive but couldn't lol! we wandered around outside for a while and saw the washington monument (very nice) It was the first day of the cherry blossom festival so all the trees were really pretty and pink and pretty and it was also some kind of kite festival which was neat to see all of the kites. There were some really interesting ones like a red baron plane, soccor legs kicking a soccor ball, some dragons, and a whole bunch of others.  Then we went back to the hotel to relax before dinner. We ate at McCormick &Schmick's which is seafood but also has reeeeeally good steaks!!!!!!!!!! Eat there if possible, lol.  It is expensive but the scholl was paying for it so I didnt care.  For fifteen people it was $552 overall (tax and tip included, $80 tip!!!!) wow I had never seen that much on a bill before but it was delicious!!!! After that we went to Coldstone cramery and got some ice cream then went back to the hotel and slept.

We left really early on Sunday in order to get back in the early afternoon.  We were going 90 mph ( i am not exaggerating) in a mini van at some parts and we raced another group that were in a station wagon (also with us and yeah old school station wagon with seats in the back) and they hit 100 at some points.  It was a miracle that we didn't crash or get a ticket but we got back in like 4 hours or less, (it should have taken  at least 5 hours) Overall though it was an awesome and amazing trip and i want ot go back!!!! lol :)

This week was pretty good. I had a minor meltdown on monday becuase i was waaaaaaaaaaaay overtired and stressed but my mom calmed me dow (sadly she is used to it....  ^^* ) but i got some sleep and got everything done and it got better.  i got a 95% on my speech that i was stressed about so that was good.  I had a chem test this morning that i am worried about, it was really hard and I don't know if i did all that well but i hope that i did.  Guess I wil find out on monday.  Well I am excited for tomorrow though because I am going to NYC on a bus trip and i am going to see "Rent" on Broadway!!!!!!!  O.O AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I can't wait and I wil try and remember to write in here about it.  i hope that it is fun and I am determined to have fun, lol.  Bye bye for now!
